NY apartment vacancy rate increased slightly in December, but remains at its lowest level since September 2015, according to data released Wednesday by the Census Bureau.
In December 2016, the rate of 4.7 percent was the lowest since January 2020.
New York apartments, which include apartment buildings and townhomes, accounted for nearly half of all apartment units, according the Bureau’s Bureau of the Census.
The Census Bureau did not break down the number of apartment units for the year, but the bureau said there were 6.4 million more apartment units in New York City in December 2016 than in January 2019.
The bureau did not release the figures for apartment buildings or townhoms.
